Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend/Father’s Day. I spent it working and spending time with family (which included Rachel ranting about our dad stealing her truck straps…at least 10 minutes long) 😉 Anyway, I’ve been meaning to write this post up for a while ever since I switched up my skin care routine. As you know, I love love love testing out new skin care products and up until a little over a month ago, I was using lots of amazing products. BUT, I decided to simplify my routine to the same one I used when I was 14/15 (wow.). Trust me on this, ok?!

Up until about 1.5 months ago, I was using at least 10 products for my nighttime skin care routine (it was around 6 or 7 when I woke up). Even though I loved all of those products, I noticed after time that they almost stopped working. Take my magic products, I wasn’t noticing a difference in those. The first month they were amazing, but after 2-3 months of use, my skin wasn’t changing. I actually noticed it was getting worse.
My skin was in a major pickle last month, right around when I reviewed these Lush products (I actually specifically asked for products that helped with troubled skin from them). I didn’t know what was up because I was using all these recommended products that used to work. That’s when I remembered my skin last year, when it was smoooooth and clear. I definitely wanted that skin back, so I decided to go back to my old skin care routine which consisted of three products: cleanser, acne pads (the cheap kind from Clearasil), and a moisturizer.
I wanted to perfect and modernize it a little bit so I started to use these products daily: Clarisonic cleanser, Nip+Fab nighttime pads, and Lush moisturizer (I reviewed it in this post). In the morning, I actually only wash my face with water. I don’t even use a cleanser, just splash my face with water! It’s easy and refreshing. I actually heard that using cleanser in the morning can strip your face of the natural oils, so that was one of the main reasons of not using a cleanser when I woke up. A few times a week, I will apply tea tree water (just a few spritz) and a mask (love this one and this one). Guess how long it takes me to finish my skin care routine? 3 minutes, MAX. And I am obsessed. My skin is so clear right now and it was such an easy change.
I think what happened was my skin started to get clogged with so many products. My skin has always been a little sensitive and dry, so I think using all those products every day for so long affected how my skin reacted! Lesson learned: more is not always better. Even though all the products I was using was recommended from other beauty bloggers that worked for them, it didn’t work for me (at least for a long period of time). Good news is, it’s so much easier to get ready for bed now! Is your routine simple or complex?
