Why I Stopped Using BioClarity

I am always on the hunt for some new skincare that will resonate with my semi-sensitive skin. It’s been just a tad dry since it’s been really cold here, as well. I’ve tried a ton of different remedies and products but my skin has been in a pickle lately because of all that extra sugar I consumed during the holidays. My everyday skincare routine wasn’t working for me so I was really excited when I was able to work with BioClarity on a post reviewing their products. I’ve heard great things about BioClarity and how it helps with acne, redness, and more. It has naturally calming and cleansing extracts from green tea, chamomile, and oat kernel in the products and BioClarity is clinically proven to soothe skin and stop redness (while fighting acne). AKA, it’s this magical skin care product. After using BioClarity for the minimum two weeks, I immediately stopped after that. Why?

Like I said above, BioClarity is all-natural and this skin care line consisted of three steps. First, you have cleanse, which is your regular, every day, cleanser. Next up is your treatment, which is what helps defeat redness, acne, and more. Lastly, you have what they call the “restore gel”. This is your moisturizer which has floraflux to help your skin feel cool and refreshed.

Depending on your skin type, you want to make sure you’re using step two (treatment) properly. If you have oily to normal skin, use twice a day. If you have dry skin, use once a day. If you have very dry skin, use every other day. I would consider my skin to be normal, but I didn’t want to over-do the acne treatment, so I opted to use it just once a day.

I applied the first step (which is the cleanser) in the morning then I would apply the second step (the treatment) and lastly, I would use the moisturizer (restore gel). I would repeat that process right before I went to bad, except I skipped using the treatment.

The first few days I saw a small difference in my skin. Yay! I was really happy that I have finally found a product that had worked. One issue that I’ve been dealing with the past few months has been redness and I saw a huge decrease after using this product, even after just a few days. I also saw that my forehead was clearing up just a bit. After about the fourth or fifth day, I noticed that my nose was extremely dry. Come the end of the week, I could barely touch my nose because skin was literally flaking off. It was the most dryness I have ever had with my skin. I always noticed my forehead and chin were also dry. I kept on doing the same routine since I had to use the product for a minimum of two weeks, though!

No no no no. Starting the second week, I started to use the treatment once every other day because my skin could not take it. I felt like I was killing my skin because it was so dry. My skin is sensitive, especially when I’m using acne products, but BioClarity is clinically proven to soothe skin so I wasn’t really too sure why my skin was becoming so dry after using this product. Come the end of the second week, I was relieved to get back into my everyday skin care routine and products. Even after the first two days of ending my relationship with BioClarity, my skin was still dry and I didn’t want to apply makeup to dry my skin even more! Since my skin was so dry I started using double the amount of moisturizer and adding some N+F products. After a few days my skin finally calmed down, hollaaa!

Unfortunately, this skincare line did not work for my skin. I’ve heard great reviews about it but my skin has never been worse when I was using BioClarity. The only pro about this skincare was that my redness greatly decreased.

Have you ever tried BioClarity? What was your experience? Let me know in the comments below!

  • Ashley

Oh no!! I’m so sorry your skin didn’t take to this skincare line. I cannot try new skincare products because I’ve only used one my entire life and my skin just doesn’t take to new products. Luckily I can use those fun masks from TJMAXX and Marshalls 😂

  • Megan Hoole

Wow! Thanks for sharing such a candid review. I hear you on all of this- it is so hard to find the right skincare product, I’ve been through what seems like hundreds. Thanks for sharing your opinion and I hope you find the right thing! xoxo

  • Amanda | The Golden Girl Diary

Oh my gosh! That is seriously my worst fear when I try new skin care products. I have such sensitive skin so for me, less is more. And the less I do the better my skin reacts! Thankful for your honest opinion!

  • Katesnumberones

I just love that you put your honest opinion out there. That means a lot to all of your readers like me. It’s good to have both postitive and negative reviews so the potential customers can decide if its for them. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • karen

I have never heard of BioClarity, but think I will steer clear of it after reading your review. I also have dry skin and dont need to stress it out any more! I am all about Zo Skin Health. Its been my savior the past year…

  • Jessi

this seems like a great product line. I had never heard of it before this post. I have had problematic skin since my son was born so maybe this would help me get that sorted out.

  • Ana De- Jesus

It is a shame that it didn’t work for your skin but since I have sensitive skin I feel like it would be the same for me as well! Hopefully you will find something that is a little kinder to your skin x

  • Janel Berchielli

I have never heard of this brand. For me my skin is also ultra sensitive most products make me break out in hives. Plus all the steps drive me nuts. I just wash my face with water and all is good.

  • Joanna @ Everyday Made Fresh

This is probably the first honest opinion that I’ve ever read. Thank you for that! I hate reading blogs and they happen to just love love love everything that they try!

  • CoCo

Good to know it doesn’t work for everyone. I am currently looking for solutions to my acne and get frustrated when things don’t work for me that worked for others but sometimes its good to keep in mind we all have different skin types

  • Adrienne

I have been searching for a good skin care line. I struggle with redness as well. Clinique has a good redness line that I was thinking of trying! Thanks for the review! At least I know now what not to get!

  • Stephani

Thanks for sharing this review Lydia! I’ve never heard of this product but I’m in need of new skin care products! Since becoming pregnant and having my baby i started breaking out and I haven’t had pimples since high school.. and now my skin is extremely dry, red and itchy. Not sure why and I can’t seem to fix it! Would’ve love to try this but maybe won’t work for me either! Thanks again for giving us an honest review!!

    Xo, Steph

  • Jacqui @FlightsFancyMom

I haven’t heard of BioClarity before, and that’s a shame that it didn’t work for you. I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully you get your skin back to how it was before!

  • Lindsey Paris

It sounds like it was working TOO fast for you. I’m sorry it wasn’t right, but you are stronger than me to have so many steps and keep to it!

  • Debra

My skin is so sensitive there is no way this would work for me. I usually break out horribly when I try something new. Thanks for the review.

  • Maureen @Scoops of Joy

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that it doesn’t work for you. I have never try them before but I swear by virgin coconut oil to help me with all my skin problems. I have a very oily skin and it still works its magic.

  • Heather L.

I love the honesty in this review. I’m impressed that you made it the full two weeks as I’m not sure I could have done that. Skin care really is a personal thing as what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for the next.

  • Alyssa Ruane

My skin reacts like that to a lot of extreme acne medications. Though my skin is oily, it still gets super dried out and flaky. It’s super hard to find that perfect balance. Good luck!

  • Brandi with Big Fit Fam

Skin is so wierd, products that cost so much and are guaranteed to work simply don’t work for everyone. I hope you have better luck with another product! I applaud your honest review, it’s hard to do that sometimes!

  • Tereza

It’s so refreshing to see a review of something that didn’t work out (although it is a shame especially because it’s a natural product!). Thank you for sharing this, makes me feel better than I’m not the only one who sometimes doesn’t get on with beauty products xx

  • Catherine

I already have trouble with dry skin so this doesn’t sound like a good fit for me. I recently discovered facial oil and it’s helping the dryness I’ve been battling. I hope you have better luck with your next skin care routine you try!

  • Catherine

Also, I forgot to add this in my comment but I LOVE your logo! It’s gorgeous!

  • Rachel @ Kitchen Cents

Oh no. That is too bad. I want to thank you for such an honest review. It’s nice to read when something isn’t as great as people think or doesn’t work for everyone.

  • Cara (@StylishGeek)

I have never heard of Bioclarity before but I do appreciate your honest review. I try to stir away from products that cause excessive dryness. Although your experience may be different than others, it still helps to know ho your skin reacted to it. Thanks for sharing!

  • Nicola

I hate trying new skincare products as there is always a period where your skin gets worse before it gets better and getting through that is really tough. It sounds like you had a pretty extreme reaction though so you were definitely right to stop!

  • michelle mink

I really appreciate the honesty that this did not work out for you. Yes, it is great that the redness stopped but when that isn’t the only problem binocularity definitely isn’t a great solution for you. I have never heard of BioClarity before and thankfully have been using a product my friend brought me from Australia that is working great for me.

  • Reesa Lewandowski

I have never heard of this brand, but thank you for your honest review. Sometimes our skin just can’t handle products.

  • Charlotte

Thank goodness for an honest review! I suffer from dry skin so this definitely would not be suitable for me. That being said, I have a few friends who love it.

  • Krystel @ Planning The Magic

I’m sorry you had that experience. This is a super honest review, I love it! At first the title threw me off but once I read it I understood.

  • Jalisa Harris

Everyones skin is different. One skincare item may work for me whereas the other may not. I’m one that can’t use benzol peroxide unfortunately.

  • Tara Holland

It is good to hear an honest review from someone with sensitive and dry skin. Not all skin care works for everyone and I like knowing what I’m getting into so I can see what is recommended for my situation.

  • Angela Ricardo

As a military wife who could barely handle her busy schedule I am truly glad I came across your post. I love how sincere and honest you are for giving your feedback about this. Thank you so much for your review about this!

  • Courteney Noonan

I love how honest this post is! On so many occasions I’ve tried skincare products that everyone raves about but they’ve dried my skin out so much

  • Kecia | Momerish

I have actually never heard of Bioclarity. It’s a shame it didn’t work for you though. All skin tones can react differently to products, no matter how natural.

  • Rachel Catherine

Thank you for sharing this great and honest review. I’ve never heard of this product but I appreciate that you were able to try it and share your experience.

  • Rose Sahetapy

I love your honest review, and I’m sorry to hear the product didn’t give you a result you’ve expected. Everybody has different skin and how the skin react on the product

  • HilLesha

I have never tried BioClarity, but I have sensitive skin that is prone to acne. I’m sorry to hear that it didn’t work out for you, though! That’s the bad thing about skin care products – what will work for some will not work for others. 🙁

  • Amanda Love

Maybe this skin care is more for people who have really oily skin. It’s really a hit or miss when trying out beauty products. Sorry to hear that this line didn’t work well for you.

  • Jennifer (JenuineMom)

How refreshing! You rock! And yes, I totally get you — skincare are hit and miss with me, too. I have had some that dried out my skin terribly and took months for it recover. I do well with a very simple, basic moisturizing lotion these days.

  • Robin Rue

The same thing happened to me with Proactiv line. It was drying my skin out and I just couldnt use it anymore. I am so sorry you had this experience.

  • Krystle Cook

I love that you were honest with us with how the product was on your sensitive skin. I also have sensitive skin so this may also not be the product for me.

  • Chelsea Damon

Thanks for such an honest review! It’s too bad, because I heard great things as well but everyone’s skin is different!

  • Tabitha Shakespeare

Thank you so much for being honest in your review! I have a tendency towards dry skin as well so I’m so happy to read this!

  • Brittany

Thank you so much for being honest! I get worried about trying new products because my skin is so sensitive and everything sets it off! I’ll be avoiding this!

  • Tasha

Aww man! It’s a shame that it didn’t work for you. however it’s so refreshing to see a honest review.

  • katriza

Yikes! I have such sensitive skin so I highly doubt my skin would’ve even made it to week 2! I loved reading this review because it’s honest, the product didn’t work for you and that is totally okay! I’ll have to keep this one in mind so I don’t have the same experience as you!

  • Charlotte Konitzer

I’ve been using this line for about a month. My first two weeks were great. Face was clearing up, looking hydrated. I just love step three! I also have dry, sensitive skin. Oddly enough, and thankfully, I haven’t had issues of dry sky n with this line, which is crazy because my sling always dries out with acne products. Unfortunately, over the last two weeks my skin has been breaking out, worse than before. But I believe it’s that “cleansing” phase. I am going to stick it out at least another month. Aside from the breakouts on my chin my face has never looked or felt so good. Thanks for your review!

    • Lydia
      Charlotte Konitzer

That’s exactly what happened to me, it seemed great then my skin started to get irritated! I hope it works better for you, I’d love to hear what your skin does in a month!
